How To Promote Your Podcast

How To Make Your Podcast Stand Out From The Crowd

When it comes to getting listeners for your podcast, there are 3 words that should form the foundations of your podcast promotion strategy.

In this podcasting tips video we’ll be exploring what the most important parts of your content marketing strategy to focus on that will get your podcast discovered and build a bigger audience.

Hi this is Simon Dunant dropping in with another top tip on podcasting.

So one of the questions I get asked a lot is how do I stand out in the podcasting arena? There are hundreds of thousands of podcasts out there on the iTunes platform and elsewhere on websites, but the thing that will make you stand out from the crowd as with any other content marketing channel is three little words. Quality, quality, quality.

Think about the quality of your podcast and that goes from the technical side in terms of making sure your audio is the best quality, and making sure that your editing is the best quality but also making sure that the content is of the best quality too.

Think about getting the best guests in your industry and don’t be scared of approaching top influencers in your industry, you want to be getting the best value you can for your listeners, bringing them the most relevant and valuable content, so don’t feel that you can’t go for those leaders in your industry and thought leaders in your field

Equally however don’t forget that other than the thought leaders you feature that might be more obvious, think about some of the other people in your industry that haven’t yet told their story.

It might be someone who has not yet appeared on a podcast, one of the easiest ways of getting an interview is to you interview the head of an association for example if you’re doing a podcast about small businesses then why not interview the head of the chamber of commerce in your area or the head of the local business organisation.

Some of these people don’t get interviewed and they have some valuable and interesting stories for your listeners. Recently I helped the host of the Success Journeys podcast and she interviewed some amazing people on her podcast about the success stories they’ve had and some of those people had never been a podcast interview before so they’d never appeared anywhere on iTunes so people who discover your podcast on iTunes will have something new served up to them.

Quality, quality quality, that’s how you stand out in the podcasting arena and it should permeate through everything you do with your podcast. If you’re podcasting for a brand then obviously you want to keep your podcast within your brand values and brand voice of course, but just make sure that the quality of what you’re putting out is at the highest standard it can be.

And to that end if you do need some help with your podcasting then check out our free video series, it’s 3 free videos that will help you go from zero to your first episode in no time at all, and they’ll cover some of the things we’ve talked about in this video and help you get the best quality out of your podcasting.
